All that power. Still can’t leave the parking space.

A KTM 1290 owner discovers a situation where all the power is pointing the wrong way.

Anyone nearby able to help move a KTM 1290 about six feet?

Nothing wrong with it. Absolutely phenomenal machine. Just parked facing slightly downhill for a photo and now need to go in the direction it doesn’t do.

Gate’s locked. Too narrow to turn round. Tried paddling backwards but I’m mainly moving gravel into my boots.

Please don’t suggest a smaller bike. Test rode a middleweight and felt it lacked the overtaking power I need. Currently being overtaken by a woman walking a spaniel.

Bought the 1290 because I didn’t want to find myself in a situation where I needed more power. Turns out I’ve found a situation where none of it is pointing the right way.

Have tried getting off and pulling it. Moved it about an inch, needed a rest, then lost the inch getting back on.

Panniers are full because this is an adventure. If I wanted to travel without luggage I’d have bought a bicycle.

Also filled the tank right before coming down here. Was quite pleased with myself for planning ahead.

Someone’s suggested taking everything off to make it lighter. That’s my afternoon unpacked across a farm entrance, then. Is there anything in the settings I could try first?

Dealer spent twenty minutes explaining the electronics. At no point did he demonstrate leaving a parking space.

Before anyone asks, yes, I saw the slope when I parked. I assumed it would feel less steep once I’d finished my sandwich.

The photo wasn’t even very good. Can’t see the exhaust, which was most of the reason for stopping.

If two reasonably strong people could come out I reckon we’d have it done in seconds. Please don’t bring cameras. Already enough photos of this location.

EDIT: It is in neutral. Thank you to the fourteen people who thought I’d spent an hour trying to pull it backwards in gear.

EDIT 2: Spaniel woman’s husband has arrived. He’s asked why I didn’t park the other way round. Would really appreciate some fresh ideas.

EDIT 3: Out now. Three of us pushed it back. Lovely couple. Unfortunately he’s on this group.

EDIT 4: Still wouldn’t swap it for anything smaller. You need to ride one to understand.
